Abstract: Mounting evidences have established that low levels of cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) are associated with a high risk of cardiovascular disease, all-cause mortality, and mortality rates attributable to various cancer, especially the breast and digestive tract.Improvements of CRF is associated with reduced mortality risk. The purpose of this review is to summarize current knowledge related to the clinical value of CRF in health outcome, risk of cardiovascular disease, surgical risk, heart failure and risk of stroke.
